Saint Véran 2007/08, 'Merloix' - Pierre Janny, Burgundy

This Saint Véran is the product of just one vineyard –‘Merloix’. A delicious wine showing aromas of lemon, peaches and pears and brimming with complex layers of ripe fruit dressed by subtle notes of mineralilty.

‘Merloix’ is the name of the actual vineyard that the grapes are from, in the village of Saint Véran.

Wines from the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais region have gained in importance and popularity as affordable alternatives to the higher priced wines of the Cote d’Or. The Mâcon whites from 100% Chardonnay are lemon fruity, fresh and supple.

This elegant wine is made to accompany a wide variety of contemporary and traditional cuisine; from light chicken dishes to seafood fare, the higher acidity in these wines complement a range of creamy to slightly more acidic food styles.
