The House of Moët & Chandon was founded by Claude Moët in 1743, but it is his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, who transformed his legacy into a symbol of splendour, pleasure and prestige.

Throughout his extraordinary life, Jean-Rémy Moët was driven by the ambition to share the genius of champagne with the world and took action in every possible direction to achieve his goal. He travelled extensively, establishing and cementing his relationship with French and international clients in person. As a result, during Jean-Rémy Moët lifetime, Moët & Chandon champagne expanded with lightning speed.

As well as scrupulously checking the quality of his champagne himself, Jean-Rémy Moët hired the services of wine specialist in every major capital, building a network of dedicated informers throughout Europe. Later in life, the determined man would make the crucial decision to group all of the champagne professions into a single organisation. He harmonised the talent and know-how, uniting them in a common vision. It was true revolution.

More than anyone, Jan-Rémy Moët believed that champagnes greatness lies in pleasure it provides and that this pleasure should be the focus of attention.
