Côte de Beaune Villages 2004/05 - Eugene Lebreton, Burgundy
A Cote de Beaune-Villages will have all the qualities of an appellation “communale”: an attractive ruby colour and distinctive Pinot Noir aroma and flavour. Fine depth of colour and good concentration of red berry fruit (black currants, blackberries), ripe fruit flavours and a firm finish.
Starting between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, the Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, extending southwards to the River Dheune, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. Red Côte de Beaune wines are noticeable for their aroma and their warm bouquet. They have a tendency to a slightly lighter body and a quicker maturation than the Côtes de Nuits.
