Italy is one of the oldest wine making regions in the world. With over two thousands years of wine making, Italy is one of the world’s foremost producers, responsible for approximately one-fifth of the worlds wine production in 2005. With such a huge export market, and with supermarkets promising
cheap wine, we understand that when you choose to buy wine, it can be hard to find what wine is just right for you. This is why you will only find the highest quality of Italian wine within our website.

With Italy’s history, it is not surprising the majority of Italian wineries are family owned. We believe it is very important to build relationships between the wine merchant and the vineyard. We have been working closely with the Fabiano vineyard for many years to bring you a much loved and high standard range of wines. Four generations have evolved the Fabiano family business from a single wine store in Venice, into one of Veneto’s most successful wineries. Since taking the helm, Nocola has become a leader of progress within the Italian wine industry, and is one of Italy’s strongest advocates of progress with respect to the high quality of Italian wine.

There are four main varieties of red grapes that are universally utilised in the production of red wine throughout Italy; these are the Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Agliance. Probably the best known, Sangiovese is the grape variety used in Chianti, one of Italy’s most famous wines known throughout the world. We offer the Chianti ‘Le Ripe’ – Fabiano, Veneto, Italy, this wine is dry and soft with deep earthy fruit flavours.

Of the numerous strains of the Sangiovese grape, Sangiovese Grosso and Sangiovese Piccolo have taken the lead. One strain, Sangiovese Grosso is Brunello (“little dark one”) so named for the brown hue of the skin. It’s the grape responsible for the potent and long-lived Brunello di Montalcino wines. Our Brunello di Montalcino from Rendola is a popular favourite among our Italian wine lovers. Aged in barriques for two years, the result is full cherry aromas which are accompanied by a creamy vanilla oak.
