Wine is made all over the United States, but with over 200,000 hectares of vines, California wine dominates the industry.
The first vines were planted in California by Spanish missionaries, but the quality of their “Mission” wine was more suited for the cheap wine end of the market. With the arrival in the mid 19th century of French and German immigrants, their knowledge and experience in wine production led to better quality and a larger selection. This influx really got things going and fine wines began to be produced in larger quantities.

We have wines from the Lodi region, California’s newest fine wine region, which even though up and coming has some of the oldest Zinfandel vines in California. Our very own Old Vine Zinfandel 2005 – Hidden Jewel, is made with grapes from vines over 60 years old. The Jewel winery has been consistently the fastest growing winery in the USA, gaining over 400 major awards and accolades. The winery is owned by a consortium of grape growers, all of whom are Californian born and bred, with generations of experience in producing the best Californian wines.
We also source Californian wine from the cooler Mendocino Country and the Central Valley. Recently added to our offerings, the Bliss family vineyard starts with the land and the grapes; the careful marriage of vineyard and varietal. Three generations on, Bliss celebrates the land passed on by showcasing the rich fruit grown on the property. As seen in their Pinot Noir 2006; full of cherry aromas and full of red fruit and spice on the mouth.
